KENT “SKIP” SWALLA, Owner/Trainer/Instructor

Kent Swalla, best known as “Skip,” was born and raised in Newton, IA, where he started riding at a young age with his mother, and knew growing up that this was what he wanted. He and his wife Stacey reside in Columbia, MO, where they own and operate Glendale Stables LLC.

Skip is a USEF Large R judge in the Saddlebred, Saddle Seat, Roadster, Hackney, Morgan and Friesian divisions. Skip has been honored to have judged many local, regional and national shows over the course of his career, including both the Saddlebred World’s Championship and Morgan World Grand National Horse Show in 2013, the Morgan World Grand National again in 2015, as well as the 2019 Saddlebred World’s Championship.

He has been a member of the USEF, UPHA, ASHA, AHHS, ARHPA and MHSA, and is currently a licensed USEF judge for the Saddlebred, Hackney, Morgan, Roadster and Equitation divisions. Skip also serves on the UPHA's Equitation Committee and the USEF Saddle Seat World Cup Committee and is honored to have coached and judged both the U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup and U.S. Young Riders events.

Skip and his wife Stacey married in 1994. Stacey, part of a team of realtors with a local brokerage in Columbia, enjoys spending her spare time showing her Saddlebred, Morgan and Hackneys under the direction of Glendale Stables LLC.
